Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB)
is a severe hereditary mechanobullous disorder caused by mutations in the
COL7A1 gene, which encodes type VII collagen, the primary component of
anchoring fibrils securing the epidermis to the dermis. Inherited in either
autosomal dominant or recessive patterns, the resulting deficiency or
structural defect in type VII collagen leads to sublamina densa tissue

carcinoma. Diagnosis is confirmed by immunofluorescence antigen mapping,
