Clinical data suggest that neurodevelopmental impairment in classical epileptic encephalopathies starts before epilepsy onset and progresses after epilepsy remission; DEEs consider that epileptic activity in classical epileptic encephalopathies plays only a partial or limited role in the neurodevelopment of the patient.
