  Follicular lymphoma (FL) is the second most commonly diagnosed, typically affecting individuals around 65 at presentation. Approximately 80% of patients with FL have a chromosomal abnormality known as t(14;18), which leads to the overexpression of the B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) protein. Most patients with low-grade FL (grade 1, 2, or 3A) are diagnosed at an advanced disease stage. However, treatment may not be necessary unless patients develop symptoms, organ function impairment, or symptomatic cytopenias.
