  Sepsis is defined as infected patients with a rise of ≥2 Sequential Organ Failure Score (SOFA) points. Microorganisms in sepsis carry specific pathogen-associated molecular patterns, binding to pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), triggering immune cells to produce proinflammatory cytokines. Another PRR stimulation mechanism is the damage-associated pathogen pattern, resulting from molecular particle release due to invasive microbes causing cell damage. PRR binding releases pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators, contributing to tissue damage and compromised immune response. Compliance with sepsis bundles can be challenging due to the complexity of identifying and treating sepsis.
