  Calciphylaxis, or calcification uremic arteriolopathy, is a rare disease thought to occur due to arteriolar calcifications of the dermis and is responsible for ischemia with cutaneous necrosis and painful panniculitis.   Etiology- The cause of calciphylaxis is not properly understood. The primary event is occlusion of the small blood vessels in the skin by a thrombus (blood clot), which results in spreading ischaemia and skin necrosis.
