  Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is an escalating health concern, ranking as the third most frequent cause of hospitalization among adults. Although CAP can affect individuals of all age groups, its incidence and fatality rates are notably higher among the very young and the elderly. The primary contributing factor in infants is the absence of humoral immunity against common pathogens like influenza, RSV, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Conversely, in the elderly, factors such as a weakened immune system due to aging and the prevalence of concurrent illnesses play pivotal roles. While females have a slightly higher likelihood of contracting CAP, males face a greater risk of mortality from the condition. Typical clinical manifestations of CAP include cough, fever, chills, fatigue, dyspnea, rigors, and pleuritic chest pain.
