Painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy characteristically presents with a tingling sensation, numbness, burning, excruciating stabbing type of pain, sometimes intractable. It may be associated with paraesthesia and hyperesthesia coupled with deep aching in the feet or hands. Poor glycaemic control is a major risk factor for the development of diabetic neuropathy.
