  Turner syndrome, known as congenital ovarian hypoplasia syndrome, is the most prevalent sex chromosomal anomaly observed in females. It occurs when an X chromosome is either partially or absent. The syndrome originates from the deletion or dysfunction of one X chromosome in females. Roughly half of the individuals with Turner syndrome exhibit monosomy X (45, XO), while the remaining 50% display mosaic chromosomal composition (45, X with mosaicism). Several kinds of X chromosome anomalies can lead to the nonfunctioning of the X chromosome, including: An isochromosome Xq, characterized by the fusion of two copies of the chromosome's long arm. A ring chromosome involving the absence of a portion of the ends of the X chromosome's short and long arms. Deletion of Xp or Xq, removing a section of the short arm of the X chromosome.
