They are benign and typically observed at birth or during early childhood. Lymphatic malformations manifest as mass lesions consisting of cysts of various sizes. They can occur in various body parts, particularly in areas abundant in lymphatic vessels such as the cervical and axillary regions and the groin, trunk, retroperitoneum, extremities, and abdominal or thoracic cavities. These malformations are categorized into three types: the first type is caused by abnormalities in lymphatic vessels and nodes, resulting in the inability to clear lymph and leading to lymphedema.
