  Coronary artery disease (CAD) encompasses a range of clinical conditions resulting from inadequate blood flow to the heart muscle, primarily caused by the deposition of atheroma in the artery walls, leading to narrowing or blockage of the arteries. When the heart doesn't receive enough oxygen-rich blood, symptoms may manifest: Insufficient blood flow can result in chest pain or discomfort, known as angina, accompanied by shortness of breath. These symptoms may exacerbate the progression of plaque buildup, further constricting the coronary arteries. Complete blockage of blood flow can precipitate a heart attack, characterized by symptoms such as angina, weakness, lightheadedness, nausea, cold sweats, pain or discomfort in the arms or shoulder, and shortness of breath.
