Severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is characterized by pneumonia that necessitates supportive therapy in a critical care setting and is associated with a higher mortality rate. It is commonly observed as a multisystem disease, often leading to the failure of multiple organs. Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococcus), Haemophilus influenzae, and Staphylococcus aureus are frequent bacterial pathogens responsible for causing severe CAP.
