The symptoms of AML can be non-specific and include weakness, paleness, fever, lightheadedness, and respiratory problems. However, more specific indicators of the disease include bleeding or bruising, coagulation disorders (DIC), neurological symptoms, and gingival hyperplasia. The exact cause of acute myelomonocytic leukemia AMML) is unknown. AMML represents 5-10% of all cases of AML. AMML occurs in all age groups but is a disease of older individuals (over 60 years).
