Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is often called human herpesvirus-3 (HHV-3). It is the most frequent long-term consequence of reactivation of varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It is called shingles or herpes zoster when the dormant VZV reactivates. The pediatric illness varicella, also called chickenpox, is caused by VZV. It is unclear exactly what physiologically distinguishes postherpetic neuralgia from a self-limited zoster epidemic. Histological analyses of pertinent peripheral and central nerve tissue from PHN patients show atrophy of the dorsal horn in some cases and myelin and axon deficit in others. For postherpetic neuralgia, three primary therapeutic modalities might be taken into consideration. The first is preventive, which aims to identify and immunize populations at risk of acquiring HZ. The second is prompt diagnosis and intervention. Thelansis’s “Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN) Market Outlook, Epidemiology, Competitive Landscape, and Market Forecast Report – 2023 To 2...
