  Non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) represents a specific manifestation within the spectrum of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is defined as a subcategory of GERD characterized by the presence of troublesome reflux-related symptoms, all the while showing no signs of mucosal erosions or breaches in the esophagus during routine endoscopy.
