Cushing's Disease (CD), the leading cause of endogenous Cushing's Syndrome (CS), results from the persistent overproduction of ACTH by a pituitary corticotroph adenoma. CD predominantly affects females, with a female-to-male ratio of 4-5:1, except in prepubertal patients, where males are more commonly affected. The peak age of onset occurs between 25 and 40 years.
