Botulism is an infrequent yet potentially deadly condition characterized by widespread, limp paralysis due to botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT), an external neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This condition arises from the overall impact of an exo neurotoxin released by the gram-positive, rod-shaped, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic bacterium Clostridium botulinum. At the same time, occasionally, other Clostridium species like Clostridium butyricum and Clostridium baratii can also generate the toxin. C. botulinum constitutes a diverse and prevalent group of bacteria, often classified into four groups (I, II, III, and IV) based on their physiological traits. This bacterium can be easily isolated from soil, marine sediment, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. It generates spores that can endure high temperatures and germinate in oxygen-deprived, nutrient-rich conditions to develop into toxin-producing bacteria. There exist three primary types of botulism: Foodb...
