Generalized Myasthenia Gravis (gMG) Market Access and Reimbursement Insights
Thelansis’s “Generalized
Myasthenia Gravis (gMG) Market Access and Reimbursement Insights Report –
2025″ provides comprehensive payer insights on the current and evolving
market access and reimbursement environments for branded and emerging drugs in
the indication. Our team understands the criticality of payer research and
insights generation, as well as their importance during drug development,
pre-market launch strategy, and post-marketing activities.
Generalized
Myasthenia Gravis (gMG) Overview
Generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) is
a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder characterized by fluctuating
skeletal muscle weakness that worsens with activity and improves with rest. It
arises from autoantibodies—most commonly against the acetylcholine receptor
(AChR) or muscle-specific kinase (MuSK)—that disrupt normal neuromuscular
transmission at the junction between nerves and muscles. Unlike ocular
myasthenia, which is limited to eye muscles, gMG affects a broader range of
voluntary muscles including those responsible for facial expression,
swallowing, speech, limb movement, and respiration. Clinical presentation
varies but often includes ptosis, diplopia, dysphagia, dysarthria, and limb
weakness, with potential progression to life-threatening respiratory compromise
known as myasthenic crisis. Diagnosis typically involves serologic testing for
autoantibodies, electrophysiologic studies, and sometimes imaging to assess
thymic abnormalities.
