About 40% of all patients were monosymptomatic, 55% showed ≥2 symptoms at symptom onset, and ~5% were asymptomatic. Including polysymptomatic occurrence and symptomatic and asymptomatic findings, 62% of young patients exhibit ophthalmological abnormalities, followed by cutaneous findings (43%). Most people with NF2 develop symptoms in the late teen and early adult years, although about 10% of people develop symptoms during late childhood. The most common symptoms of NF2 include ringing in the ears (tinnitus), gradual hearing loss, and balance problems.
