Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA) – Market Outlook, Epidemiology, Competitive Landscape, and Market Forecast Report – 2023 To 2033
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a diverse subset of idiopathic inflammatory arthritis that affects children under 16 and lasts for six weeks or more. Seven JIA categories exist oligoarthritis, systemic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, enthesitis-related arthritis, rheumatoid factor (RF) positive polyarthritis, RF negative polyarthritis, and undifferentiated arthritis. It's yet unknown what causes or triggers persistent arthritis in JIA. It is hypothetical that a genetically sensitive individual will experience aberrant immune responses due to combinations of environmental factors. Breastfeeding and having siblings in the same home are potential protective factors, while other environmental factors, including antibiotic exposure and C-section deliveries, are potential dangers. Microorganisms such as enteric bacteria, Epstein-Barr virus, Parvovirus B19, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, and streptococcal infections still have unclear significance. Most JIA subtypes share the characteristic of an imbalance in regulatory T cells, Th1 (IFN-gamma secreting T cells), and Th17 (interleukin -17 secreting T cells) of adaptive immunity. In oligoarthritis, polyarthritis, and psoriatic arthritis, proinflammatory cytokines and matrix metalloproteinases are induced by IL-17, which results in joint destruction. A key cytokine in ERA, IL-23, promotes inflammation via IL-17 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and promotes the growth of new bone via IL-22. Imaging helps to assess joint degeneration, reduce the differential diagnosis, and increase the certainty of a JIA diagnosis. Anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory medications, physical therapy, and eventually surgery, nutritional support, and psychosocial support may be required for the treatment of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). For all subtypes, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) are the cornerstone of the first line of treatment for symptoms.
