Allergic Conjunctivitis – Market outlook, Epidemiology, Competitive Landscape, and Market Forecast Report – 2020 To 2030

Allergic conjunctivitis is one of the most ordinary forms of conjunctivitis. Allergic conjunctivitis causes red, watery, itchy, or gritty eyes. It usually happens when a person's eyes contact with an allergen, a substance that makes the body's immune system overreacting. Symptoms arise due to the body's overreacting immune system, which causes histamine and other active substances to be released through mast cells. The vision becomes sore and inflamed. The nerve endings are irritated when blood vessels dilate or expand. As a result, tears are secreted more frequently. Typically, the condition is not painful and does not cause light sensitivity in the eyes. Allergic conjunctivitis is caused by an allergen-induced inflammatory response in which allergens interact with IgE bound to sensitized mast cells, resulting in clinical allergic manifestations of the eyes. AC is the only ocular disease caused entirely by a type I allergic reaction. In sensitized individuals, T2 cells release pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) that stimulate the B cells' immunoglobulin E (IgE) production. The IgE binds to mast cells' membranes, and subsequent cross-linking by their allergens causes mast cell degranulation and the release of preformed (histamine, tryptase) and newly formed mediators (leukotrienes, prostaglandins).

The prevalence of Allergic conjunctivitis ranges from 32 MN to 35 MN in the US population.
