Panuveitis – Market Outlook, Epidemiology, Competitive Landscape, and Market Forecast Report – 2023 To 2033
Panuveitis is a condition characterized by inflammation affecting the entire uveal tract, including the retina and vitreous humor. According to the International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG), panuveitis is inflammation of all three components of the uvea: the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. It differs from other types of inflammation in terms of its causes and distribution. Common causes of panuveitis in specific populations include tuberculosis, Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome, sympathetic ophthalmia, Behcet's disease, and sarcoidosis, while many cases remain idiopathic. The diagnosis of panuveitis is established through the presence of clinical signs, such as evidence of choroidal or retinal inflammation (e.g., choroiditis, retinochoroiditis, retinal vasculitis or subretinal), evidence of vitreous inflammation (vitreous cells or vitritis), and signs of anterior uveitis (cells and flare in the anterior chamber). The management of panuveitis involves systemic administration of corticosteroids (IV methylprednisolone), topical application of atropine drops, and topical application of prednisolone acetate.
- In the USA, the prevalence of panuveitis is estimated to be 4.4 per 100,000, respectively.
